Hudson Valley Credit Union is currently recruiting for the position of Senior Compliance Officer. Primary Function: Ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations for all areas of the Credit Union.


  • Draft, develop, implement, administer, and monitor a risk-based compliance management program commensurate with the risk profile of the organization and ensure the completion of required and periodic compliance reviews in accordance with established laws, rules, regulations, practices, and the compliance review schedule. Develop and implement a compliance review schedule pursuant to annual compliance risk-assessment process.
  • Perform and direct required and periodic compliance reviews, consistent with the compliance review schedule, ensuring HVCU is in compliance with all applicable rules and regulations.
  • Monitor and analyze developing trends and changes in regulatory laws, rules and regulations that may require interaction with third party expertise, including legal. Summarize trends and changes in an understandable format for the organization. Provide recommendation as necessary.
  • Respond to a variety of compliance-related inquiries from all functional areas of the Credit Union. Conduct research and draft responses in a manner that will protect the Credit Union while maintaining operational efficiency.
  • Support and consult with the VP, Legal, Corporate Compliance and Risk in the implementation of compliance related strategy, projects and training.
  • Maintain an internal library of compliance research resources, ensuring that such information is available and accessible throughout the organization.
  • Maintain current, extensive and experienced-based knowledge of regulatory and compliance related issues by networking with peers, reviewing changes through multiple compliance resources and attending relevant educational opportunities. Also coordinate with legal expertise and/or other credit unions, ensuring accurate and comprehensive interpretation of applicable law, rules and regulation.
  • Review regulatory compliance training throughout the Credit Union to ensure content, frequency and required audience is consistent with all applicable laws, rules and regulations.
  • Adhere to all Credit Union policies, procedures, and regulatory agency requirements. Participate in all required and recommended training and development including, but not limited to, Bank Secrecy Act training (BSA) and demonstrate attained knowledge. Participate on Credit Union teams, projects and strategic initiatives when the opportunity arises. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

  • Responsible for regular and predictable attendance including punctuality.



  • Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years equivalent experience for each undergraduate year not completed required; undergraduate degree cannot substitute for minimum number of years of experience 
  • Successful completion of the NAFCU Compliance Certification Program or obtained within 6 months of hire required
  • Extensive experience interpreting and implementing rules and regulations in a financial institution required
  • Experience as a financial institution compliance officer, federal or state financial institution regulator or auditor preferred
